The need for stone conservation brought into doubt the state of some of the leaded glass: work included insitu repairs, stained glass restoration, new opening hoppers with pigeon proof screens for the ringing chamber and vandal protection of valuable windows was carried out over a period of two years. No.1 A rolling programme of restoration and protective grilles started with insitu repairs and rebuilds of the East facing windows of the South Transept in conjunction with the stone restorers.
